Suzanne D’Arcy Suzanne D’Arcy grew up in the 1950’s and 1960’s on Kodak colors - Bright Blue, Raging Red, and Over-Exposed. She earned two Bachelor of Arts degrees at U.C. Davis in Art History and Art Studio in 1972. She had wonderful exposure to excellent teachers like Wayne Thiebaud, William Wiley, Harvey Himmelfarb, and Roy DeForest. However there was some basic knowledge D’Arcy felt she hadn’t learned and she still held on to the Kodak palette. She worked in the applied arts field for several years. Then with a marriage and two kids decided to go back to school at the Academy of Arts College in San Francisco. There she received a very good grounding in traditional painting techniques and applications. At the Academy she learned “no tube colors” mix, mix, mix those pigments to reflect the living world. On addition to her long term interest in painting the human figure and ordinary things, she fell in love with plein air painting. She finally dumped the Kodak palette and moved into the world of color theory. She has been a participant in a variety of art shows and activities recently.
