Gass is combining new work with some favorites from the past. In this show he will try to explore the often-overlooked views of America and celebrate the scenes of open road. Gass's photographic style seeks out the quiet, overlooked stories along the open road, within humble structures, small towns and the back roads of forgotten America. His work ranges from a quiet drama, to unbridled reverence, to images of distressed scenes of future ruins. Some of these images contain a cutting edge bit of humor combined with quiet calm, and emotion. Most of this body of work was chanced upon during one of his long road trips. In some ways a lot of Gass's work is a sort of documentary, looking back from his contemporary vantage point on the intervening decades and making note of future ruins. Gass's method of collecting and recording images and overall style for certain subjects began quite early in his artistic career. His images often contain a wry humor and fondness for beauty in the seeming normal and overlooked. His work harkens back to a simpler time when the Grand Tour, the great summer vacation, the "Road Trip" became a part of our popular culture.

Drawing from his technical background as an engineer, Gass strives to improve his craft through fanatical attention to the details of processing, printing and mounting his prints. He prints all his photographs. All prints are mounted and matted using 100% museum quality, acid-free board. All numbered images are limited to the edition number plus one artist’s proof.
