Leslie Hurst
Leslie Hailey Hurst is an oil painter who lives and works in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada mountains of California. She graduated from Washington State University with a Bachelor degree in Fine Arts. After raising her children, she returned to painting more than a decade ago.
Hurst’s expressionist painting style is open and loose. Her landscapes and still-lives are infused with light and contemplative space. Her love of saturated and heightened color brings a dynamic sense of feeling and place to her work. To round our the other corners of her live, Hurst also owns and operates Woods Creek Olive Oil Company (having discovered that her ranch would be perfect for olives while painting in Italy!), and is a principal partner in Table Mountain Beef- a niche marketing company selling local beef.
Hurst travels extensively to see and paint but always comes home to the landscapes that surround her. “Paint what you know is always the first advice given to painters - and I know home best”, says Hurst.
