Richard Tereba
Richard Tereba paints California scenes with eye-catching arrangements, simplicity, and a gifted sense of color and light. His work is clearly impressionistic. It has all the best qualities of impressionism: a sense of movement, shapes and shadows that capture the essence of an object, with enough detail to anchor the whole scene in this world. He has consistently produced a variety of excellent paintings of subjects from around the state. Richard Tereba has lived most of his life in San Francisco and in Maryland. He studied in Maryland with Susan Flaherty. At Stanislaus State he studied with Richard Savini, and earned a degree in art. Two other well-known artists who have influenced his work are Fairfield Porter and Edwin Dickinson.
