THOMAS WADDELOW, painter, was born on a farm in Greenacres, Washington,
where he spent his formative years. He started his art education while attending
Chaffey college in Ontario, California. He had a five year break in his education
during World War II while serving with the Army in Europe. After the war Waddelow
continued his studies at USC where he earned degrees in art education and art
history. He served for five years as civilian director of hobby shops with the
U.S. Air Force in Japan, directing art programs. He had the opportunity to visit
Japanese museums and shrines where he became interested in the fine and delicate
shadings of Oriental art and was particularly impressed with the ability of
these artists to attain a volume of expression in a single brush stroke. This
experience has had a profound influence on his work. Thomas Waddelow is a perfectionist.
Thomas Waddelow
lives in the southwest so a number of his paintings have a south western
theme. Since in his 87 years he has lived many places, there are many
different types of scenes in his work. We currently have 18 of his paintings.
